The recall election of Julie Spilsbury, driven by far-right organization Turning Point USA, is officially moving forward.

Why the Recall?

Turning Point USA targeted councilmember, Julie Spilsbury, because she:

- Voted for temporary homeless housing in a hotel

- Voted to raise council member salaries

- Supported former presidential candidate Kamala Harris

-  Supports the LGBTQ+ community

Who is Spilsbury up against?

Dorean Taylor - challenger funded and supported by Turning Point USA

We cannot let Dorean Taylor get elected!

If Dorean Taylor wins this seat on the City Council, this will be detrimental to the wider Mesa community and any progressive changes we want to see in our city.

You can watch her transphobic 3 min. speech from the April 7, 2025 council meeting here.

*Disclaimer*

Julie Spilsbury identifies as a Republican. To date, she has not responded to any of our emails on the Mesa PD and ICE 287(g) agreement. This is disappointing, but as far as what we're working with when it comes to the Mesa City Council, she's one of our better options.

Unless another, more progressive candidate files a SOI by the 5th, this group will support her in the recall election.
